The Eve of War

“We know now that in the early years of the 20th century we were being watched closely by intelligences greater than man. Yet across an immense and inferial gulf, Intellects vast cool and unsympathetic regarded this earth with envious eyes and slowly and surly drew their plans against us.”

The Quiets of Space
Absorbing a stare into space, infinity races through my mind
Watching the stars run their chase, distance apart they are blind
Feeling different today as I view the night sky
Stars are all in their place but not in my mind it’s awry
confusion all on me, explain so I can see
what is the meaning, it’s about unbelieving
We the people of earth
Await your curious return
Taught to fear, or believe
Some trust cause they have learned
Is anybody out there Can anyone hear me
There must be someone out there In The Quiets of Space
The sky has changed The stars rearranged
The same remain but brighter ones rain
This night is bright Stars bouncing light
Coming in threes getting closer turn back please
I feel, I feel, I feel I feel they’re near
Solo: Dan Mongrain
Is anybody out there I know they’re looking at me
Now I’m running scared from The Quiets of Space

Cylinder

News report : “Here is a special bulletin from Trenton New Jersey. It is reported that at 8:50 PM a huge flaming object fell on a farm in Grovers Mill New Jersey. The flash in the sky was visible for a radius of several hundred miles. We’ve dispatched a special mobile unit to the scene.”
Cylinder
And it fell from the stars
That greenish streak was seen from far
In a blue smoke filled pit they found
An incessant heat and sizzling sound
Disturbing!!
The Cylinder Lies half submerged
Its ashy incrustation blurred
In charred ground and smoldering earth
A noisy tumult in its interior will birth
Emerging !!

The Happening
News Report: “We take you now to Grovers Mill New Jersey. “
“I guess that’s it, yes I guess that’s the thing directly in front of me half buried in a vast pit. It looks more like a huge cylinder. The metal casing is definitely extraterrestrial. This thing is smooth and -- Just a minute something’s happening. The top is beginning to rotate like a screw and this thing must be hollow. This is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever witnessed. Wait a minute. Something’s happening (sirens and screaming) . . . . . .
News Report: “ Ladies and Gentlemen. I have a grave announcement to make. Those strange beings who landed in the Jersey farm lands tonight, are the vangard of an invading army from the planet Mars.”

Insensate Machine
A monster Monsterous tripod
A walking engine Our buildings are under
Exhultant a deafening howl
A mechanism drowning out the thunder
Lifeless Deathmec Tumultous
Drowning out the thunder
he can reap us all asunder
It’s an Insensate Machine
Merciless Heatray
Colossal Devastation
Ungovernable Fusillade
From tentacular Appendages
Lifeless Deathmec Tumultous
Flashing white flame
It’s an empathy-less game
It’s a Insensate Machine
Solo: Kirk Passamonti
La La La I won’t hear it La La La I won’t listen
La La La If I can’t hear it La La La I won’t fear it
I don’t hear it I don’t fear it
I won’t hear it They’re getting near us
They’re stepping on, stepping on, stepping on us

War of the Worlds
05:45
|

The Earth Force: “We must continue the performance of our duties each and every one of us so we may confront this destructive adversary with a nation united, courageous, and consecrated to the preservation of human supremacy on this earth.”
War of the Worlds
Flashing structures falling down, Deathray melts away the crown
Tripod bombarding sirens spaces said, Black fire fleecing the sky's sleeping red
Is this a war Is this a world Will there be more with other worlds?
Will we survive As destruction arrives In the War of the Worlds
Solo: Dan Mongrain
Left in Death among the terror and darkness
The heat ray of light reveals a blackened starkness
Crashing down on our fragility They swallow whole our complacency
Is this a war Is this a world Will there be more with other worlds?
Will we survive As destruction arrives In the War of the Worlds
The fighting continues Thick streams of white flame
with threads of red fire Melting to mame
Destructing existence All in an instant
Earth will forget It had a name
The final day when men shall call
Upon the mountains and the rocks to fall
Upon them and hide them from the dark unknown
To unsee the horrid face they’re shown
It’s the War of the Worlds

The Earth Force: “Come in Please. This is Lanham field. 8 Army bombers in engagement with enemy tripods. Engines incapacitated by heat ray. Enemy now discharging heavy black smoke in our direction. “
Toxicloud
And then the sky was blackened and the roof of life fell in
Their tools of death were floating among the breath that humans need
I live in fear to breathe sky converges in on me
I breathe in fear to live within the Toxic cloud
A Black shroud of vapor inhaling pungent wisps
A dense cumulus of poison impenetrable mist
Here it comes the Toxic cloud drowning inside the Toxic cloud
Blinding sight it’s the Toxic cloud smothered life in the Toxic cloud
You will never find a place to Hide You won’t be led
or see a light to guide So palpable, A breath denied
Solo: Billy Davis
Here it comes The Toxic cloud sky converges The Toxic cloud
I won’t breathe in The Toxic cloud I’m not long for the Toxic cloud
News report: “The enemy is in now in sight. Five great machines. They’re lifting their metal hands as smoke comes out. Black smoke drifting over the city. People in the streets are running towards the east river. Thousands of them. The smoke is spreading faster. It’s reached Times Square. People are trying to run away, but it’s no use. Its 50 feet away (coughing) . . . . .

Can't We Live
05:59
|
|||
Can’t We Live?
In between the silent Breeze
An Insensate machine that can not feel
Shredding life into strands for their meals
Pleas go unheard, hope’s broken shield
Hidden in this house of ruin
May be a place they won’t persue in
Distant screams go silent as death
Am I the last of us the final breath
Solos: Kirk Passamonti
Can’t we live or Can’t we see
Can’t we live someway to be free
Can’t we live even just me
Can’t we live or die mercifully

The Cower
04:42
|
|||
News Report: “Cylinders are dropping all over the country. No more defenses. Our army wiped out. This may be the last broadcast.”
The Cower
Deep thru the trees the tripods they approach
Search lights of green seeking out a new host
Of telepathic Rays penetrate to destroy
Last for my senses a perishable ploy
What is left and what is right
To the Cower or to the fight
Deciding in your final hour
To the fight or to the cower
Deep thru the trees we run off in the night
Melting our life not a fair fight
Met-tallic beings of terror and fright
Not a human nowhere in sight
Solo: Billy Davis

Interplanetary Immunity
05:30
|
|||
“There before my eyes stark and silent, lay the Martians and their dead bodies. Later when their bodies were examined in laboratories it was found that they were killed by the putrefactive and disease bacteria against which their systems were unprepared.”
“Before the first cylinder fell there was the general persuasion that through all the deep of space, no life existed beyond the petty surface of our minute sphere. Now we see further. Maybe the destruction of the martians is a reprieve to them and not to us.”
Interplanetary Immunity
The lines are crossed the shadows made
They reaped the costs that humans made
Putrefactive and disease
An unsuspecting truth appeased
Desolating cries have ceased
Slay reversed by disease
What is left we’ll build once more
Did we really win the war
Interplanetary Immunity spells extinction for Humanity
And as the earth spins round and round
Another threat thru time is bound
We’ll listen to the quiets in space
And hope they don’t recognize our face
Our capacity for disease is prime
Microscopic allies saved us this time
Interplanetary immunity
Would be the end of all living beings
Take this as a warning It’s our last chance
Solos: Leo Bakman

Insensate Machine New York
In 1993, Billy Davis (guitar/vocals) developed an original music concept of a heavy metal version of War of The Worlds. Thirty years later, Jamie Baldassano (drums) joined the band and added his percussion expertise and Patrick Foote (bass/backing vocals) completing what is now a band called Insensate Machine. Our music is progressive metal with an influence from 1980's Big 4 thrash metal. ... more
